[NJARC] buying a TV7 needing repair

Steve,
Repairing Tube Testers can be very time consuming since they consist mostly
of switches and solder connections. Many have been "rode hard, put away wet"
and require replacing switch wafers or worse. Replacing pots, caps, meters,
test sockets or transformers is okay if you can get a good replacement. BUT,
bad switching is tough to troubleshoot and worse to repair.

If you are willing to pay in the $300 range for a broken unit, consider a
Hickok 752 the unit designed to replace the 739C. 

I have seen these in working condition at Kutztown and NJARC shows for $450
or less.
