In case you missed it in c. 1931, from a tiny newspaper clipping that also
jokes that Britain's Labor (sic) government is mostly laboring to keep in
office.:

A chap was arrested and brought before the judge.

Judge: What is your name, occupation, and the charge against you?

Prisoner: My name is Sparks. I am an electrician and I am charged with
battery.

Judge: Officer, put this guy in a dry cell.

ROFL, Alex
