Dear Member:
At one time, prior to going "on-line," the printing cost for the NJARC
Broadcaster was $145 a month. After going on-line and with the addition of a
discount I received from work, the cost got down to $26 per month. This also
included 25 additional issues for handouts, etc.
FedEx will no longer accept my discount. To cut costs, I used Staples for
the September issue and cut down the "extra" copies to 5. The cost was $62.
Therefore, the Broadcaster printing cost will now cost the club over $400
a year extra.
It is therefore imperative that, if you possibly can do it, on-line
delivery is the way to decrease our costs (and also reduce your editor's work time
in sending out the Broadcaster by mail). To help in this effort, I will
also publish this appeal in the October Broadcaster.
A few of you have suggested that we only offer the Broadcaster on-line or
add a surcharge to dues for mail delivery. I'm afraid, unless voted on by
the Board, I can't accept such a requirement. Members have the right to
receive the Broadcaster by any method it is convenient for them. However, with
enough of an appeal, I'm sure many members will switch to e-mail delivery.
Finally, if you receive the September Broadcaster by mail, I apologize for
the quality of the pictures. I told Staples to print from the Publisher
version but they used the PDF which reduces picture quality somewhat.
Thanks,
Marv
