Here in Jackson, power began to be lost at around 5:00 PM. I was out
running calls with the fire company, but left my front porch light on, so I
would be able to see in passing when power went out. My power went out at about
9:30 PM, and remained so until about 9:00 Thursday night. The extent of
property damage, was 2 large limbs from an old oak near the road, but nothing
near the house ,garage or shed thankfully. The town faired generally well,
just a lot of downed trees, limbs and of course lines. From the time of
power loss, until the return of power, I ran essentials on a 1959 Winco
generator (Product of the Zenith Radio Corp!). Most of our power is back now. An
interesting note, while most in the area have comcast phone, since FIOS
has not made it here, I remained with copper/DSL. Phone service continued
with almost no interuption, and of course, once the modem was powered, I may
have been one of the only in the area with internet service as well! But
all of this aside, I will keep those who faired worse, and the shore towns,
in my thoughts and prayers. I was in Toms River on Tuesday, things did not
look good.
