Hello Richard and NJARC members,
While you are looking up at Armstrong's giant FM tower, turn around to check out the puny 150' tower with the weather radar golfball ontop. This may be the last SCR-271-D left from WWII.
It is linked to Camp Evans in two ways. First the SCR-271-D series were designed at Camp Evans. There was one at the Diana site, one between fourth and Fifth Street and one on Monmouth Bl. at the SCR-271 I&M School. The second way is Armstrong's experimental FM radar moved from his lab to the Project Diana SCR-271-D may have been installed on this unit at Alpine.
