For many years the group called "Friends of Old Time Radio" held a two day convention at the Ramada Inn at Newark Airport in October. I had attended once several years ago but decided to visit them again last year and was much impressed by their programs and presentations. Unfortunately the individuals who organized it for many of those years grew older and felt they could no longer continue to run it so last year was their "swan song". However, others who are younger are trying to resurrect a similar event this year at the same venue on Oct. 12th & 13th. They call themselves "Celebrating Audio Theatre - Old & New (CATON) and are soliciting for attendees in Oct. Google the name and you will get to their web site for full information. They need to make a commitment to the hotel within the next week and they need a few more sign ups. As a club, I do not think we involve ourselves enough in the program aspects of old radio. We love our vintage radios and I suspect that many of us love the old programs just as much; after all, program content is just as much a part of the history of radio. Arthur Anderson who we inducted into our National Broadcasters Hall of Fame a few years ago is their honorary chairman. Give it a look and see if you can help support the event.
Ray
