Radio\Electronics Enthusiasts:

For those who are unaware (and a reminder to those that are), I am Matt Reynolds, and I am the new chairperson for the NJARC capacitor program. I am proud to carry on the torch from the two previous "Johns", and I'm sure others before them. It will be a great learning experience for me, and I'll do my best to provide the club with the best quality of service I am able to provide.

One of the things I would like to do as the new chairperson is to expand and improve upon an already great service and perk of NJARC. I would like to do this in a few different ways:

The first way I intend to do this is by ordering larger quantities of values we already carry. Having higher quantities in inventory will lessen the liklihood of running out of caps when you need them.

The second way I would like to improve the program is by offering more "radio friendly" capacitor options when practical. Due to popular demand I would like to investigate and if cost-effective supplement or replace our cap selection with axial-lead Mylar\Film caps. As long as it is still practical I will maintain stock of both radial and axial versions for electrolytic capacitors.

Lastly, I would like to stock additional values of capacitors than what we already carry in the traditional inventory. Though it's impractical (and probably impossible) to carry every value cap, it would be a greater benefit if more values of caps are in club stock. Our membership has a diverse range of interests in the electronics fields, from the oldest of radios to military surplus, TVs, etc. As time continues to march on caps that may not have been necessary to replace in the past when the program was started may now be beginning to be problematic. If you have suggestions on values you think we should offer feel free to contact me. We won't be able to cater to everybody but if we can broaden out what we can cater to, then if practical we should.

To help expand our selection and inventory of capacitors, I am asking for your help. I am starting a new initiative to the cap program: The Capacitor Drive! I am asking for those of you with significant excess stock of caps to consider donating them to the cap program directly. There are many members out there that have "come into" large quantities of capacitors, be it from estate sales, hamfests, auctions, etc. and may have more caps than they know what to do with. This is an easy way to share the wealth with other members, while helping to raise money for the club. If significant quanities of values are received they will be added to the inventory list and be available for purchase. Similar to tubes and everything else a cap that may be "junk" to you may be just what another member is looking for. The cap program is heavily funded by the sale of the caps themselves. Donated caps will help to lower the overhead of carrying more values.

Please contact me directly if you have caps you wish to donate, or if you have values you need from the existing inventory. If you contact me a few days ahead of an NJARC event, I can have your order ready for you to pickup. Skip the line!

I intend to continue to research and invest in the best caps possible at the best prices for our club. Hopefully together we can make a wonderful perk of being a member of the NJARC even better than it already is.

Kind Regards,

Matt Reynolds
