[NJARC] Thank you - bigger problems

John/NJARC Folks,

I'll be as brief as possible.

The 50/50 was *NOT* rigged -- my email was a joke. How in blazes you could have
taken that seriously is beyond me. And your gross over-reaction is ridiculous.

I do not appreciate being called an obscene name (even if it is abbreviated) on
the reflector. For a moment, I thought maybe I was looking at my *work* email.
;-)

Seriously, do you think that's proper behavior, *especially* for the moderator
of the reflector? I do not.

John, you may be a wonderful radio historian and writer, but that does *NOT*
make you a supereme deity that can impose your will or opinions or character
judgements on the rest of us. This is not the first time you've done this.
Unfortunately, you have a mean and petty side that emerges in situations like
this.

"Wise up, shut up, and stay away from me." Really?? Tempest in a teacup, indeed.

I considered you a friend and was proud to know you, and not only for your work
with QST.

With that said, I bid you farewell. I am only quitting the reflector, *not* the
NJARC. You may UN-subscribe me from the reflector at your earliest convenience.

Regards,
John

Sal,

Instead of being mad at me, you should be mad at the guy who started it and who
has put the club in a bad situation.

He has accused "you" and the club, by his words, of running an illegal "fixed"
lottery.  This is against the law, and I'm sure when Princeton finds out
(someone will no doubt tell them) that the club is running a 50-50, lottery, on
their property - they won't be too happy about that.

I don't know, nor any longer care if it was a joke or not.  Accusing someone of
running an illegal lottery and naming me as the recipient is not funny, not a
joke and he is liable for his words. You should be worried as well, and mad at
him.  I am the victim here, and perhaps the club.

I like jokes as much as anyone.  I feel he meant it to hurt me and I feel it is
very possibly still true.  I do not like being accused of receiving il-gotten
money.

You know, I'm quitting the club.  I'm just too tierd of defending myself when
others refuse to take their own responsibility.  It's just not worth it.

I hope you are all happy now.  The joke's on you.

John,
Now you brought me into this with your remark about responsible people running
the 50/50. I sent you a email directly to personally apologize to you if my
reply to John's post offended you. My god, can't you take a joke. At meetings
you crack jokes that make us all laugh, true, you may not direct it to one
person. If you took John's message on the reflector seriously and if you think
others thought what he said was true....wow, I don't know what to say about
that.

Like I said in my email to you, what makes NJARC great is that we can have fun
at meetings, joke around and slapstick. When it comes to the time we all sit
down, hands folded on our laps and not say a word as if we were in Communist
China , afraid we might offend someone with a simple remark, then I am out of
there also.

You did an unbelievable job on the presentation, very well researched that shows
the passion you have in our hobby. That had nothing to do with the 50/50, you
won that fair and square. We use a different person every meeting to pick the
wining ticket and since I do the 50/50's when I am there, I never pick the
ticket.

Sal

No John, You made this public so this reply is public.

You have a bad habit of sniping at members.  When something good happens, you
say something negative.  You do this here on line, and you do this at meetings.

You just can't accept something good and leave it alone.

Where I used to work we had a name for people like you, "Punch in the mouth."
Because sooner or later someone did that to them - or they wised up.

This message is your Punch in the mouth.  Wise up, shut up, and stay away from
me.

Your big mouth has hurt two people besides me.  Sherry said she is not going to
the Christmas party, and probably will never attend another meeting.  I might
attend, if you don't.  I might not anyway.

One other person was hurt by this as well.  I doubt if she will be attending any

meetings soon.

The club needs to ammend the bi-laws to insure this never happens again and
should suspend any 50-50 event until the bi-laws have been changed and
responsible people are running it.

I will be submitting a check in the amount of $23. to the club to end this.

This thread should end now.

John,

All I can say is, I *hope* you're joking -- I certainly was. If not, we'll
settle this off-reflector between the two of us.

JR

BTW, what is A.H.? Hmmm, let me guess....animal, vegetable or mineral?

John,

You're an A.H. for saying that.

The club can expect the return of the pot.  I don't want it!  And don't ever do
that again, or I will never speak again.  I don't do this for money.

John, you really are an A.H.!

Hi John,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 50/50 was rigged to provide financial
compensation for your very nice presentation. Don't get too excited about
winning; NJARC does that for eveyone who does a presentation.

JR
