Former FCC chairman Newton Minow used the phrase "vast wasteland". Wow, I MUST be old, I remember hearing it!While the subject of early childrens' TV shows is ripe, does anyone remember the kids' TV show with a bear hand puppet "Sooty"? I haven't been able to find anyone who remembers it, but just found it on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sooty&aq=1 . I remember watching it as a YOUNG kid, but can't find any mention of it being aired on metro NY TV in the '50s. As a matter of fact, that Philco TV in Phila. that needs a home looks alot like the 17" Philco that I had, but ours had 2 doors.Bill Zukowski----- Original Message -----From: Robert Flory Date: Wednesday, May 26, 2010 2:30 amSubject: [NJARC] NY/Philly OverlapTo: njarc at mailman.qth.net> Just remember > Reply = Poster> Reply All = Everyone> > _________________________________________________________> Second most fun with the TV, the rotor.......Kachunk, kachunk, > kachunk.> Third most fun with the TV, holding magnets up to the screen and > watching the colors go wacky.
