Yes, it is amazing what some people think some of these radios are worth
myself included at times no doubt). There was a radio on Craigslist a little
over a week ago that I kind of wanted. Do not know why, but, I wound up with
this accumulation somehow :). Besides, I already had one. It is a 1946/47
vintage Magnavox radio/phono combination. Beautiful piece of furniture. The
one I have is in the family room and is not accessible. It also has a
replacement changer. This one turned out to be all original, but advertised
as not working. I offered $60 for it and was told they were going to get an
appraisal. A few days later I received an email from the seller and they
said they had an NJARC member appraise it and $60 would be great. This
afternoon my son and I picked it up and now it is playing just great. Has
been for about 2 hours. The problem turned out to be a blown fuse. The
biggest room in the house is my bedroom, and, it has no old radios in it.
Since this is such a nice piece of furniture as well, that is where it is
going. Actually, there is no room for it any place else. Hard to believe
that about 20 years after this was manufactured in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I
was working in the same building. Of course by that time there were no more
commercial items manufactured there, only military. - Mike
