[NJARC] Why 455? (Again)

Gang,

Can anyone come up with a copy of FCC part 97.182 regulations some time
around or shortly after "Radio Moving Day" in March 1941?

The current regulations say the following:

    (s) Two stations, one with a frequency
twice of the other, should not
be assigned in the same groundwave
    service area unless special precautions
are taken to avoid interference from
the second harmonic of the station operating
    on the lower frequency. Additionally,
    in selecting a frequency, consideration
should be given to the fact
    that occasionally the frequency assignment
of two stations in the same area
may bear such a relation to the intermediate
    frequency of some broadcast
receivers as to cause ''image'' interference,
    However, since this can usually
be rectified by readjustment of the
    intermediate frequency of such receivers,
    the Commission, in general, will
not take this kind of interference into
    consideration when authorizing stations.

I have reason to believe that earlier reg may help us better understand
the 455 issue.

Thanks,
Al
