Gang,

I find myself working on an Aeriola Jr. that belongs to the Museum. I
have some pretty specific questions.

What headset was originally supplied with these? My references say
Brandes, but which ones? Does anyone know for sure?

The detector minerals were completely AWOL. Again, Web references say
it used a Perikon detector, and suggest Zincite and Bornite. However,
there are other possibilities. Can someone take a look at an original
set and report? See Wikipedia for pix of the minerals:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bornite
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zincite

I've made an initial repair with zincite and bornite, and I must say the
set works pretty well here where signals are strong. Perikon detectors,
while not as sensitive as galena and a catswhisker, are a whole lot more
user friendly, being pretty much set and forget.

BTW, there's a picture of a Perikon detectot from Marv's collection
here: http://www.skywaves.ar88.net/2det/twodet.htm

Thanks,
Al
