Hi Gang,

My distraction this weekend ...

It all started when I was young, my dad brought home a sailboat and I
learned to sail it on the lake next to my home. I found it was a
chick magnet. So when I became a teenager I bought a bigger boat, a
"Town Class" sailboat. (I mentioned this in an early Old Radio
column.) What I didn't say was that I finally met a "chick" who I
really liked, so I sold my boat and bought an engagement
ring. (Maybe I said this too?)

Anyway on our way home from a fasting early morning blood test on
Saturday and a diner breakfast following that, we stopped at a yard
sale not far from our home. They had a 17' sailboat in the yard
sale, with a trailer. I bought it for $200. Sure it needs sails and
some minor Fiberglass work, but it was a "good deal" that I couldn't
pass up. It's a DS class boat by O'Day. George O'Day learned to
sail on a "Town Class" sailboat, like the one I used to own, and
his/this design has many of the same features. So I spent some time
later on, on the Internet searching for sails and information.

Of course all day Saturday I had to listen to, "You'll never fix it
up. You'll leave it lying around in the yard like everything else
you drag home." etc. (This is an earned reputation I have, for some
reason?)

"Not this time," I said.

Then Sunday was Kiss-UP day with Sherry. We went shopping together,
we had lunch out, and she came home with a new $400. Hoover. (She
was happy with this.)

That should explain everything, just in case you were wondering?

WTB = Does anyone have a used set of sails for sale - trade?
