[NJARC] Unfathomable

Hi Rob,

I saw NO boat anchors at all in the pictures -- neither military nor ham. What kind of jerk was this guy??? ;-)

And no breadboards, wireless-era stuff, Catalins, high-end deco sets, or cathedrals. There was one shutter-dial Zenith console that looked pretty good -- with the knobs missing, of course.

I also thought Mr. Whartenby's observation was very astute -- most of us who have been in the hobby for a long time have that problem, to a greater or lesser degree.

Jim, regarding the DSRC dumpsters -- that was a damn shame -- someone at Sarnoff used very poor judgement. (Folks: please note that this was *before* Alex Magoun was there). I mean, if you're gonna *toss* the stuff, at least give the employees a crack at it. Or perhaps they did -- I distinctly remember a Hammarlund SP-600 at the Lawrenceville Armory hamfest with a big DSRC property sticker on it. Boy, I wish I had bought that radio!

For me, part of the fun *is* in the act of *acquisition* -- not just the radio itself. That's part of the problem.

JR
