[NJARC] "cheap radios at auction club" -vs- real radio collector club

Just to the above recipients....
Harry,
Texas has nothing to do with this. I belong to clubs in California,
Rhode Island, Maryland and New York States; I would never ask them to
move a location for me living here in southern New Jersey, near
Atlantic City. And I don't think Jon has asked - so drop this!
The real question is, are we going to be a radio club or not? We
might loose a couple of members if we go to Infoage all the time, but
we should pick up some others. You have (almost) lost me. And since
I have been here for about 10 years I pretty much know what I'm
talking about. I have seen quite a few very good members/collectors
with large collections drop out. You should really try to find out
why. Several of them were founders of the club.
We have lost our direction. We have no club projects. The "club" is
not working at Infoage. Just a few dedicated folks do all the work
at Sarnoff and Infoage. We don't need numbers, we need dedicated
members. Smaller might be better.
As far as traffic is concerned - I drive to Infoage on Friday meeting
nights and home again. It is an hour and half (plus) driving each
way. Sometimes traffic is heavy. (And I visit my family in Boston
often and have driven home via the Parkway on Fridays, so I know the
northern end too.) But the traffic and driving is much better on the
Parkway than up and down 206 to Princeton. 206 is a one lane road
each way with very few locations where you can pass slower moving
cars. Sarnoff is a longer more stressful drive for me, and if moved
to Princeton, it will be even farther/longer. Princeton traffic, 130
and US1 traffic is very bad. During winter, the Parkway is much more
safe than 206 in bad-freezing-snowy weather.
In New Jersey, there is no best place traffic-wise for everyone -
unless you want to move meetings around the state to accommodate
everyone? So then, what is best for the club? Dump the Ebay
sellers, they are leaches. Forget them. Get established at Infoage
and give it a couple of years. If things don't work, you'll know it.
Get over trying to please everyone. It can't be done.
The club should be more strongly affiliated with Infoage too.
