[NJARC] Put Your Thinking Caps On

Hope that everyone had a pleasant holiday.  Now some thoughts for the new year.

InfoAge is currently designated a WWII Living Memorial by Monmouth County and the surrounding towns.  We would like to be the official WWII Living Memorial for the entire state and recent discussions with the new governors staff have been positive in that regard.  The memorial should not be just to the military personnel who participated but also recognize the New Jersey industries that also made great contributions.  To add more weight to our quest for this designation it would be nice to be able to list a lot of the NJ industries who made those contributions.  I have a small list of radio manufacturers but we should list ALL those who contributed to the war effort; but how to do it?  Fred Carl has been thumbing through magazines of the period noting NJ companies who advertised their war efforts.  That's one way; perhaps there are others that you can think of.  In any event, how about sending me names of companies that you are aware of, where they were located and perhaps what they did in very general terms.  I'll sort out duplications, don't forget institutions such as Bell Labs, etc.

While I might have your attention, here is another interesting proposition.  The NJ Historic Divers group is thinking of having "Movie Nights" at InfoAge where they will show feature films of sea disasters and so forth.  Well can we come up with feature, or not so feature, movies that are radio related?  The newly released story of Orson Wells I understand would be a good one.  Can you think of others?
