I think you are confusing a  "booster" with a rejuvenator. The rejuvinator is a combination CRT tester and rejuvinator. It can burn off shorts made by pieces of cathode coating that have flaked off. It also can renew the surface of the cathode coating  by getting  rid of oxidation essentiall bringing fresh material to the surface. This can bring a CRT back to like new performance. It is less harmful than leaving a booster hanging on the tube. The results were better with B+W tubes than color for long life. I would think a Predicta would not be left to play for long periods these days making tube life a non issue.
