John -
Are you sure it is from the late 50's? Sounds more like from the mid 60's. -

Last spring I bought a cool looking RCA Victor TV from the late 50s. I
got the set home and it played but it had a vertical lineary problems.
After 15 minuets or so of playing it would get some horizontal pull
then it would lose all vertical control. So after long week of roof
repairs cleaning up the mess in my shop and dealing with building
inspectors. I decided to take a brake and restore this TV I chose the
the worst thing to do it took me from 8:00 last nite until 1:45 to
remove the nasty PC boards replace the caps and some burnt resistors.
I reinstalled the pc boards this morning around 11:30. Then I replaced
about 5 week tubes. I powered the set up It came to life. I made some
more adjustments the put it back in the case. It puts out a good
picture but it has some ion burn and tests week. I was hoping some one
in the club had a good 17PKP4 CRT there wiling to part with. Thanks
John T
