Jim Fred was indeed a gentleman and a real asset to our hobby. I first met
him in the late 60's when I was a member of the IHRS (Indiana Historical
Radio Society). He also always brought great stuff to sell at the
Canandaigua AWA meets. I remember the first time I went there, in the mid
70's I bought a bunch of real early rare tubes from Jim. I am sure a few are
still in my collection. He will surely be missed by a lot of us. Regards -
Mike

>From Merrill Bancroft on the AWA reflector:
"I heard today that Jim Fred has passed on. I believe he was over 90. A
fine gentleman and a very savy technician."
Jim Fred was famous for his repro National SW-3 coil forms. His good name
came up last weekend at Kutztown.

John
