John, I found a diagram of the heathkit AC1 tuner. I also picked up some malware along the way. (it wasn't on BAMA) It showed the lamp grounded thru a capacitance demarked as made of dotted lines with no specified value. that would seem to confirm Al's theory that the lead just dangled. Marty
