Al,
For whatever way this helps (or not - hi!) I think some of the earlier
Heathkit preamps had this feature. It was common in the 78RPM days, kind of
like a "Dolby" before it's time to use this with the playback of earlier
78RPM recordings.
Other copmpanies made adapters for the same. Hopefully, he'll be able to
turn something up.
If he absolutely has to have something right away, I have one of the
aforementioned adapters he can borrow until he turns something up for a
reasonable price. I was saving it for a proposed build of my "ultimate"
hollow state technology audio amp.
