Oh dear! I reckon I've got the name wrong. I never know if the name of the coil is linked to the tube before or after it. Please help by entering the Early 1930s Superhet Coil Nomenclature Challenge! Below is the tube/coil line-up for the Philco 70. Please fill in the blanks - THANKS!!

Antenna

______ COIL

Tube 24 – 1st RF

______ COIL (problem coil – the 24 preceding it needs B+. This is coupled to the 1st Detector)

______ COIL (the primary of this coil is in series with the secondary of the above coil. Coupled to the Oscillator)

Tube 27 Oscillator

24 – 1st Detector (BONUS POINTS: Does this just amplify? MORE BONUS POINTS: If so, why on earth is it called a “detector”?)

_____ COIL

Tube 24 1st IF

_____ COIL

Tube 24 – 2nd Detector

No COIL – coupled via a _____ capacitor
EVEN MORE BONUS POINTS for naming this capacitor

Tube 47 – Amplifier

_____ COIL

Speaker

Tube 80 – Rectifier
