[NJARC] Roger McGuinn, Radio Collector

That could have been me.

I had a Bulova 4-tube portable I got for selling 60 boxes of
Christmas cards from an ad in Boy's Life magazine, one year. I
attached it to my bike and had radio-music as I rode around - until
that is, the batteries went dead. The 67-1/2 vole one was the most
expensive so I went weeks at a time without radio until I could buy
another battery.

I asked for a guitar too, but Dad only gave me an old National RX for
the summer instead. Maybe I would have been a rock-n-roller
too? Nah, I doubt that. I would have been too lazy to
practice. Listening to radio was easier and didn't require too much
sweat. (Except for the part-time jobs I needed for the scratch to
buy another battery.)

Anybody out there have a radio on their bike? I also had a Bermuda
Bell on it, about the time cops stopped anyone with one of them. I
had great fun ringing it within ear shot of a cop and then watching
him chase down the passing car thinking he caught someone. (This
should explain a lot about me to some of you who have doubted me in the past?)

[Bill O. Don't reply to this.]

73, John
