[NJARC] Need tubes

Steve - I forgot to mention: If you see any EL34's marked with the "Fender"
logo on them, they're just repackaged "Sovtek" tubes, and not of US origin.
The guitar company "Fender" still sells tube amps at a premium and started
to use Russian tubes when all other US and Western European suppliers
(Amperex,Mullard, etc) dried up. Again, they're perfectly good tubes that
should not sell at a premium.
Just to make an educated guess, "Sovtek" is currently undergoing a power
struggle and may not be producing any output at the current time. There are
one or two other Russian tube manufacturers that may be producing them, or
brand new tubes may be of Chinese origin.
There is nothing wrong with the Chinese tubes as their production
capabilities are getting much better than they were five or so years ago.
Considering the price disparity between the "Shunguang" and other tubes,
it's definitely worth the gamble, so to speak. I doubt you'd hear any
difference between a "Shunguang" and a seasoned Mullard or Telefunken.
Out of curiosity, are the tubes for a Dynaco ST70, Heathkit W5M, or similar
audio amp?
Best Regards,
Joe Cro N3IBX
