[NJARC] On compulsive hoarding

I'm getting tired of neat freaks telling us collectors
of amalgamated paraphernalia that we have a problem.
Just because we like to keep things does not indicate
anything other than an affinity for retention. I
believe an uncluttered room is a sign of a sick mind-
too neat means too anal-retentive, and therefore far
too tightly wound. I'd rather be an external
retentive, as the stuff which I keep around, I find a
use for eventually! I can think of at least a half a
dozen projects which came together due to so-called
"junk" which I kept around. And I make regular
offerings to the god of crap- because he blesses me
with the needed transformer, the desired rheostat, and
many other things as needed... Maybe someday I'll get
it organized- but for now, I'm happy with the
arrangement. I even located all the parts to my dad's
1942 Philco tabletop radio, which he'd disassembled in
the early 1960's, and who's parts had scattered to the
four winds. All the parts were found, in several
different boxes, in several different locations, all
in very little time.
So, why should I follow this theory, crackpot theory
at best, that my saving everything I think useful is
bad? If I save something, I will not need to waste
money to buy another when I need it, usually right
after I fell victim to their sickness, and cleaned out
that spot, and threw it away!
