This appears to be true and very sad news for  the Ham community.  His son 
will apparently keep the web site going.   www.qrz.com has a string of 
condolences and a letter from Rod's son.

Sad News from Oceanside, CA and the Palomar  Amateur Radio Club (San Diego 
Section).

Rod Dinkins, AC6V has become a  silent key.

Rod was a well-known author of Amateur Radio Books, and  creator of 
www.ac6v.com

He is survived by his XYL, Karla.
