hi al,

	the problem usually isn't the cd its the read/write unit.as speed is
increased the angle of the
laser changes or the data track width changes as engineers figure out how to
cram more data on the the 
same size disk.cd's you record today cannot be read on machines 8-10 years
old.
	data is supposed to last 15 years on the average cd.
