Does this make the Grunow 470 a 'double conversion' receiver? While we're on the subject of different IF frequencies, can someone comment on what a 'double conversion' receiver is for us non-engineers? Thanks,

I was working on a Grunow 470 (General Household Utilities Co., Riders Vol.
VI, page 6-2) at the clinic. Here's how the Service Instructions read:

NOTE: Due to interference caused by commercial code stations in some
locations, it has been necessary to use two I.F. frequencies on this receiver, one of
490 K.C. where code interference is in the neighborhood of 455 K.C. and the
other where the interfering stations are operating in the 500 K.C. band, we use
an I.F. of 465 K.C.

The note goes on to say that the IF frequency is stamped on the rear of the
chassis.

Hope this helps...Marv
