Prob the only known direct descendant of the Labs is Telcordia.

Well, that's not totally true.  I just returned from a security
conference and there were a handful of AT&T Research folks there from
Florham Park.   Notice I said AT&T research not Bell Labs.  Bell Labs
went by the way of Lucent  but AT&T has started again with a new group.
Actually it's not new.  They have existed for years.  So, there is still
hope.

Ledger - front page for an article about this great institution.  We
probably will never see this type of facility again and it's a shame
because so many great things came out of it.
