Many of you probably knew John as a long-time hamfest dealer. This note is from his daughter, Joanne:

John Kakstys, W2FNT, died yesterday, August 1, 2008.

I want to thank everyone who were his long time friends.  

Dad had been a ham since he was 14 years old. He was 89 years old and so he enjoyed many, many ham radio years. 

Dad especially loved buying and selling equipment. 

I know that so many of you spent many hours in his basement store and/or at flea markets. 

I was glad that I was able to bring Dad to the hamfest in June. He may not have seemed to be very conversational, but he told me how much he enjoyed seeing so many friends.
