When I got started as a ham in 1962 we did not have to have a Conalrad
"alarm",we were required to monotor regular broadcast radio while operating.
If we heard a news bulletin directing us to the Conalrad station,or the
station went silent we would be required to cease transmitting. I think
that is why I still listen to Newsradio stations almost all the time. I
never could get used to playing a tape or CD in the car. I just have to know
what is happening.
