Al,
I have a gargantuan speaker cabinet (Built by RCA in 1947/48, as a
station accessory) that was used at the Hotel Pennsylvania in Bradford, Pa
from 1948-on, as their main means of getting audio out into their ballroom
from (then) the house hotel orchestra, remote broadcasts done at the hotel,
etc. The only problem is someone removed the two 15" speakers, a tweeter,
and associated crossover network milieu. It may be perfect for what our Club
is looking for. If you like, I can do a fotoshoot and show the pics to
you,Ray Chase, and anyone else who may be interested. It was given to me by
CNN camerman and good friend, Paul Courson, WA3VJB; since it's all wooden,
has baffles, and in general, way too nice cosmetically to put in the
dumnpster. I had originally intended to hang it my basement, supported by
the rafters.
Perhaps it's best use would be for the Club's hi-fi display. All we would
need would be one or two very large speakers, a horn tweeter, and perhaps a
crossover network.
Let me know if you're interested, and we'll take it from there. It's very
large and heavy!
Mod-U-Later (with hi-fi audio enhancedwith a little negative feedback)
