[NJARC] Uncle Bill Henderson's Radios :) :) :)

Joe- I'm not sure about the cathode modulator you
mention: But I should have access to the modulator
with dynamotor next time I visit, hopefully...

The ARC-5 sets I have are:
BC-453B (Rec.) 10-550 kc
BC-454B (Rec.) 3-6 mc
BC-455B (Rec.) 6-9.1 mc

BC-457A (Tx.) 4-5.3 mc
BC-458A (Tx.) 5.3-7 mc

I have none of the control cables or heads, but do
have the Bendix connectors for the mounts!

With regard to the power unit, the 450 voltage showing
was at the point the power went into the radio: some
of the tubes were carrying that voltage! There was no
further power reduction I could find. I checked the
voltage charts. Pretty sure the transformer is cooked:
lotsa wax lying about. Also, the resistor I mentioned
is about 1 3/4" by 3/8, wirewound hollow resistor,
showing 990 ohms on the 2000 scale on my DMM. I want
to try to keep as much of the original design intact
if feasable... I found a nice solid state design
online, but I am a tubie- want to keep that tube in
there... :) I will try to e-mail the schematic once I
finish diagramming it...

Yep- BC-375 is the one I meant. He has about a dozen
tuners- most new in box, some new in dilapidated
boxes, but new inside. Also some of the tubes...
Having found how involved that trasmitter is, I'd
probably be happy with a smaller ARC based setup... I
still need help finishing up tuning the SX-111 Mk 1-
It is driving me nuts! At least I am good at
soldering...
