Ok, it is 4:35 AM... I finished the recap on my SX-111
Mk1, earlier, and have been trying to retune it...
However, my signal generator will not go down to the
50kc required to tune the 50.75kc IF. So, going on the
hope that was already set alright, so I've been
attempting to follow the manual the rest of the way.
However, when I try to tune the 1600 kc 2nd conv osc,
& 1650 kc IF's, I can't get it to tune in at 1650, but
rather around 1700. The procedure also has me silly.
So I thought I'd see if I could drag the freq's around
where they should be by continuing. But the osc
trimmers are factory soldered(no- I haven't removed
any- that is the last ditch effort...) And nothing
else seems to do anything I desire. So I've stopped
for the evening.
Before I started to retune it, and prior to the recap,
things were off freq on all bands. 10MC WWV was coming
in 1/2" to the right... On the interesting side, I was
able to tune in one of the Terminal Area Forecasts
from NY for the eastern region. This is an ongoing
weather broadcast for aircraft, and is usually on an
aviation band. My receiver had it as being in the 80M
band, around 3.4/3.5MC. Not sure if is should have
been there.
Ain't a Philco... Anybody want to get together and see
if we can tune it up today? I'll be awake by about 11
if anybody feels like playing- drop me a note!
Scott
