In 1954 the solid-state radio revolution, or what John Ruccolo has referred to as the unfortunate solid-state revolution, began. On October 18, the Regency Division of the Industrial Development Engineering Associates of Indianapolis announced the TR-1, the first commercially available transistorized pocket radio.
