Skipping, was sometimes caused, by grime on the rails that the "tonearm" err 
should I say "vidarm?" rides on. Much the same way a CD player will skip when 
the polished rails get gummy. Cleaning them with a solvent such as lighter 
fluid and coating them with a very light film of light machine oil, will often 
eliminate skipping.Then again, sometimes it wont.
