Well it takes all kinds, I guess if you get your jollies building a repro telegraph sounder from scratch that's your thing. One could purchase a real one much easier. But why run it on RSS signals, there are plenty of sources of real Morse code that could be availed? Why listen to gibberish? I checked some of my sounders and there seems to be two electrical types. One type runs around 5 ohms on the coil and the others run 120 to 150 ohms. Probably for a telegraph office where relays would amplify the voltage. However, putting 12 volts to 3.4 ohm coils pushes 42 watts into those coils at "key down". Bet they get good and hot. Surprised the switching transistors take those surges and inductive kick backs.
