Well, that's not exactly what I said.  The older BC-348's, with the 
double-ended tubes, are full of .01uF paper caps labeled MICAMOLD.  They 
have to go.  I usually leave genuine micas in place until they arouse 
real suspicion.

Jim,  Do the later 348's have paper caps inside the front end 
compartments?  That's not the case with the early sets, but is surely is 
with the BC-312 family.
