[NJARC] inconsistent tube types

NJARC,
I am hoping that someone can explain a tube usage mystery
concerning my Air King Model A-511.
 
The Audio Output tube listed on the radio's back panel is 35W4.
My schematic, however, shows it as a 50L6-GT.
To add to the confusion, the radio came with a 35Z5 
in this socket and the radio works fine!
 
Are these tubes interchangeable?
(according to my book, 
they don't seem to have the same terminal assignments)
 
Is my schematic or radio label (or both) bogus?
 
Is this a common circuit modification, and, if so,
should I restore the radio per the schematic?
(I don't want to be afraid of using a radio that 
 contains improper components.)
 
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
