You are correct..  The control grid is the "top cap" of the tube.  Makes 
for easier troubleshooting when doing a finger test to see what stage is 
or is not working.

Those box capacitors of 3 or 4 microfarads might actually be paper 
capacitors rather than electrolytics.  If you replace with 
electrolytics, make sure you have the polarity right or you will hear a 
loud bang when you power up the set.
