Aaron and others,
Well so far, all the tubes were check and one came up completely dead and
one weak. I have a replacement for the weak one and I am ordering the dead
one. The chassis has been cleaned and I am starting the complete buzz out.
The speakers (there are two) were in the worse shape of the entire radio. I
bought it with the speakers detached and lying at the bottom of the cabinet,
because the pressboard had cracked and broke into four pieces. There were a
few minor cracks and one good tear. The speakers have been repaired with
some rubber cement and one patch with rubber cement. I took some
measurements and my minor woodworking skills were employed to create a new
backboard for the speaker mounting. I am staining it the same color as the
rest of the cabinet today and the mounting of the speakers will be
completed. I was a little worried about those speakers because the field
coils measured so high but the schematic that I now have tells me it is OK.
Today I order wire and capacitors also. Some wires are open and some caps
shorted.
