Subject: WOR transmitter site
Dear Phil:
I am an environmental consultant retained by Middlesex County Public
Health to undertake an environmental evaluation of Medwick Park in
Carteret, NJ, which specifically includes the former WOR radio
transmitter site. I have come across your name and club's web site while
doing background research, and I am hoping that you may be able to
provide information on radio transmitter sites in general, and the
former WOR site in particular. In addition, it appears your museum has
engineering documents regarding the WOR site, and I would like to know
if it would be possible to access those documents doing times other than
the Sunday afternoon museum hours.
Specifically, I am looking for information on how a transmitter site may
have environmentally impacted an area. Particular concern has been
raised regarding the possible use of PCBs at the former WOR site, and I
am trying to determine if such use did occur, and if so, where the PCBs
were used and / or stored. Additionally, if they were used, I am trying
to determine the most likely place they might have been spilled, and the
kinds of quantities that might have been involved.
Should you, or your club members, be able to provide any information
regarding the above, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you, either
by phone or email, at the numbers shown below.
Thank you for much for your time.
Jeff.
