Rob,
A 6G6 is a octal based pentode with a power output of 1.1 watts. My
guess is that it could have been used in just about anything that Collins
made, and probably dates from the late 1930's to the early to mid 1940's.

Collins contracted out to several manufacturers in the 1930's to produce
tubes for them, and had the "Collins" name stamped on them. An example would
be a Collins branded F-100A that was actually made by Federal Telephone and
Telegraph of Newark, NJ.

I have a pair of brass based 838's with Collins stamped on them. They were
most likely made by National Union. At first glance, I couldn't believe a
"Collins" branded tube; but found out later that Collins had tubes made by
other manufacturers with their name on them, as other companies like
Hallicrafters did in the 40's and 1950's.

Regards,
            Joe cro N3IBX
