Steve,
Your WE 242C is just about identical to a # 211 tube, or military
designation VT-4/C. The only difference is the 211 has a mu of 12.0 vs the
WE 242 which is 12.5. The two tubes can be interchanged without circut
modifications in most instances.
Pins 2&4 are the filament, pin 1 is the grid, and 3 the plate.
Unfortunately, the two transmitters I have that use your tube aren't yet
operational. Just wanted to give you some additional information about it.
