The radio industry did nothing to correct the problem. They were producing equipment with 90 day warrentees expected to last only a few years. The equipment usually would not present the symptoms for many years. Varying designs in IF transformers and materials. may have accidentally cured the problem.

ps Not all Ktrans type transformers go bad. alot depends on storage conditions ( ie humidity )
