Hi Jerry,

I think it would be really cool to campaign a Breadboard in the
contest. I'm not sure what you mean by frequency meter. A counter
won't do you much good as there's nothing to count in a TRF set. A
signal generator might help, but it needs to be well calibrated or
hooked to a counter.

Better plan: Do a day-time band scan when you pretty much know whats
on: 570, 660,710, 770. 880, 1010, 1130 etc. (If the Model 10 is
anything like my Grebe Synchrophase, it's going to get really broad at
the upper end of the band.) Log the local stations. Make a chart
leaving space in between these frequencies. If you have a well
calibrated (maybe even digital) receiver set it on the same table for
quick station ID by frequency. Remember you can't do this during the
contest though.

After the sun goes down, fill in in between the above. Use the Target
list. http://www.njarc.ar88.net/DX%20List2.pdf
These are stations you can actually hear reliably.: The regional DX in
the first group are generally pretty loud. 700 WLW, 750 WSB, 740 CBL,
760 WJR, 800 CKLW, 900 CHML, 1030 WBZ, 1110 WBT, etc.

Check for the more distant stations like 650 WSM Nashville, 750 WSB
Atlanta, 670 720 780 1000 Chicago, 870 WWL New Orleans, as you go.

Good luck,
Al
