[NJARC] Antenna Balun

Scott,

Yes the balanced antenna should be quieter on shortwave than the random 
wire. You might want to arrange some sort of A-B switch to better 
understand the difference as you tune around.

I'm not surprised you didn't hear much on long wave. A doublet antenna's 
response falls off dramatically below the frequency where it is an 
electrical half-wave in length (a dipole). Tie the inner and outer 
conductors of the feed line together and connect to the antenna post 
then connect an earth ground to the ground terminal for long-wave listening.
