[NJARC] Parsippany Swap Meet publicity

Folks,

We've gotten a nice amount of free publicity for tomorrow's swap meet.
Our announcement has appeared in various newspapers over the past week
and a half, and just today, our event was mentioned in three -- count 'em
three! -- places in the local paper. So if publicity counts for anything,
we should expect good traffic at the show.

The "hook" used was to promote the day as an opportunity for folks
attending the show to receive a free appraisal of their old radio - as
opposed to just sending out press releases announcing another flea market
that the vast majority of people (and newspaper editors) probably
couldn't care less about. It seems like maybe that worked, since we've
gotten by far the most success in newspapers picking up on our press
releases ever.

That also means that we now have to come through with credible appraisal
services. Shouldn't be too hard for our group! Appraisals are something
we've always said we offered at our meets, but it's never been a big
thing. I've personally never even seen anyone bring in a radio to be
examined. We may or may not see a lot of people tomorrow looking for
that, so let's be ready for them if they come. These are not "insurance
company" certified appraisals, but our club can easily ballpark an
accurate range on most anything that might happen to walk in the door.
When you arrive at the show, please let the club know if you feel you
have any specialty areas in which you'd feel comfortable offering an
expert opinion so we can have a stable of experts to be called upon for
information as the need arises.

Thanks, and see you there!
