Thanks for the information. The Philco 42-321 does have information
available as I have found some. There is a picture of it on the
antiqueradios.com website and a picture of it in the Collectors Guide To
Antique Radios, 6th Edition, page 186. I found the schematic on page 14-18
of the Rider's books.

I have no doubt the rest of the caps need replacement so your lead is most
likely correct. I did not consider the oxidation and will check it out,
thanks.

         Edward,I can't locate info for a Philco 42-321.Are you 
  sure of the model number? Anyway,the filter caps replaced were
  most likly what was available at the time.There is wide latitude 
  in replacing filters,but put in new ones as close to the originals
  Paper coupling and bypass caps can cause low volume.If it has 
  Locktal tubes,the contact pins will have oxide form over time and
  will have to be cleaned with sandpaper.Try gently rocking the 
  tubes when the set is on to see if the volume come up.
