OK, Edison with 1093 US patents was a guess.  A  search gives Shunpei
Yamazaki (Tokyo, Japan) with 1,432 US patents to his  credit.

It was just on NJ PBS which I had on in the background while I was  working.
 
Edison was listed as 1093 plus. But if Sony tries to take credit for the  
first transistor radio and Guiness Book will not even answer my emails this  is 
fine by me.
 
10% was the answer they gave for lake superior.
